Why write, or how I just like to talk about dance

So why am I writing a blog about Irish dance? Well, when I picked it back up again last April, one of the first things I did was a lot of research, mainly, do people even teach adults beyond ceili? The Irish dance world, at least in North America, is so hyper-focused on the under-18s that anyone who's graduated high school is nearly invisible here.
Beyond that, I started looking into adults competing. I always loved going to feiseanna as a kid, even if I didn't get to go very often. If I had a chance to compete again, I was going to take it! The possibilities of performing were quite appealing as well.
So I finally found a school, started taking classes again, and the rest is, well, not quite history, but my present and future.
About me/my dancing:
Location: New York, NY
Level: Advanced beginner/Novice
Experience: 5 years as a child, and just approaching 10 months as an adult
Going back to my discussion of researching dance (I'm a huge nerd), I found a lot of adults actively blogging about their Irish dance experience, but they were either in Europe, competing through WIDA (my school is affiliated with CLRG), or adults competing in the "& overs," neither of which applied to my situation. Quite frankly, there's not a lot of adults talking about being "adults" in the Irish dance world, and I want to change that.
Up next: Oireachtas, and how completely insane it feels going to your first one at age 27
