Poor decisions

Why on earth did I think work retreat+feis+moving would equal anything other than disaster?!

I am going "upstate" (aka the Catskills) on Thursday for a mandatory work retreat (nothing says relaxation like coercion!), returning to the city on Friday just in time to catch my bus to DC, then Nation's Capital Feis on Saturday! Then when I return, I have just over a week until I move.

Needless to say I'm going slightly insane right now, trying to pack a long weekend bag for work and feising, plus packing literally everything I own and figuring out what can get tossed/donated/sold. Which of course is why I'm writing this short blog post - there's nothing like procrastination when there's a looming deadline.

Thankfully I'm only moving across the street, so this whole process is not nearly as stressful as it could be, but it's certainly taking away a decent amount of focus I want to have on dance in general and the feis in specific, especially since there's such high numbers in all the novice competitions. At the very least, I'm going to use my work retreat as an opportunity to do a little extra practice - some of my coworkers have been begging to see me dance for awhile, so if I can do a little performance for them of the steps I'll be doing at the feis, we all win!

Needless to say I'll certainly have a longer recap blog about Nation's Capital in a couple of weeks (most likely appearing after the move on August 1). Stay tuned!

  1. Good luck and have fun at the feis! Looking forward to reading about it! :) My next feis isn't until the end of October, so I'm hoping there will be high numbers in Novice too!

I'm sure everything else going on will go smoothly too; you can dance out your stress at the feis! :D
